Keiko Shichijo, a prominent fortepianist who plays a leading role in the early music scenes of both Japan and the Netherlands, has released a self-produced album on the prestigious Dutch label Et’cetera.\nThe album *Beethoven 1802* is themed around the year 1802—a year that proved to be exceptionally significant for Beethoven, both personally and musically, as it was when he wrote the “Heiligenstadt Testament.” Centered on the theme of “1802,” the album features two masterpiece piano sonatas composed or published in 1802—“Moonlight” and “The Tempest”—as well as the “Eroica Variations.” The instruments used are also a key highlight. The album is meticulously dedicated to the “Year 1802,” featuring a rare 1802 fortepiano bearing the signature “Frère et Sœur Stein (Stein Brother and Sister\/Frère et Sœur Stein).\nBoth siblings were friends of Beethoven, and he owned a fortepiano they had crafted.
