The three toccatas suggest a transition from Bach-style strict counterpoint to Classical structure, while the “Riddle” variations—modeled after the styles of five composers active during Potter’s time (Reiss, Kalkbrenner, Cramer, Rossini, and Moscheles), symbolizing his humorous side. The performance is by Luke Jones, a native of North Wales.
