Piano Concerto No. 25 was composed in 1786. Compared to No. 24, which features the largest orchestration, this concerto does not include a clarinet; however, it is characterized by a brilliant orchestral sound—created by the addition of trumpets and timpani—and an exquisitely crafted piano part.\nLahner’s arrangement makes almost no changes to the piano part; by adding a double bass to the string quartet in the accompaniment, it creates a rich sonority, while the melodies from the wind parts are skillfully transposed to the strings.
