The second release in the series, following the previously released Nepomuceno, is a collection of violin sonatas by Glauco Velázquez and Leopoldo Migues. Both musicians were major figures in the world of classical music in Brazil at the beginning of the 20th century, and both are highly regarded for their contributions to the country, which was in the midst of social upheaval at the time, by introducing the musical culture they had absorbed in Europe. Miguez, who won a competition to create a national anthem to celebrate the birth of the Republic, is a composer who studied in Spain and France. He was also entrusted with rebuilding the new national music education system and is known as the person who laid the foundation for classical music in Brazil. He was fascinated by the music of Wagner, and this violin sonata has a sweet melody in the style of Italian opera.Velázquez, who belonged to a later generation than Miguez and studied in Italy, was attracted by the lyricism of Donizetti's and Verdi's operas, but this violin sonata uses rather complex harmonic progressions and has a flowing, almost impressionistic style.
