The story is that Minerva, the Greek goddess of wisdom, awoke from a long sleep to find Athens devastated by the Turkish invasion. She goes to the plague from which the other gods have fled and makes it \"the new Athens.\" The story is filled with charming arias, duets, and choruses. Enjoy the play-like performance with narration. The music for the \"Dedication Ceremony\" is part of the music written for the dedication of the Josefstadt Theatre. Most of the music is adapted from \"The Ruins of Athens,\" but the overture is original.
