During the First World War, he was so remarkable that he was named along with Dallapiccola and Petrassi as one of the \"three most talented composers in Italy.\" Unfortunately, he died at the age of 30, and his name has since been completely forgotten. One reason for this may be that his style was not very progressive. Although Salvucci's family had nothing to do with music, he had close ties with the clergy in Rome, where he served as choral director of St. Peter's Basilica and received instruction in Renaissance music from the Palestrina scholar Ernesto Poesi. His style seems to have been based on Baroque and Renaissance works. Enjoy these avant-garde works in an archaic format.
