His father was an amateur guitarist, and Ferrer, who learned from his father at the age of five, became an accomplished guitarist, not only playing but also composing, and eventually became a teacher, training many young composers. He also spent a long time in Paris, where he was for a time the guitarist for the Comédie Française, was a member of the French Social Society, and gave lessons free of charge at the school in Liceu, among other contributions to society. He befriended many guitarists and performed with many of them. These guitar duo works are the result of their friendship. His original works, including \"fantasias based on opera melodies\" and slow dances, which were popular at the time, are filled with beauty that recalls the elegant atmosphere of Paris.
