The two chamber works on this album were both written by the teenage Korngold. The Piano Trio, his first work to be numbered, is a work of confidence, and despite being written at the age of 12, it is full of bewitching melodies reminiscent of Korngold's later works, suggesting that his style was perfected early on. The String Sextet, completed six years later, is a magnificent piece with an even more refined writing style. The Sextet for Strings, completed six years later, is a magnificent piece with an even more refined writing style, and uses precise counterpoint throughout, further developing the style of Brahms' string sextet. The Spectrum Concerts Berlin is a group of virtuoso musicians.
