Having been interested in dance since his student days, he composed his first music for a ballet at the age of 22 and went on to create several new works thereafter. This “Manfred” was inspired by Byron’s poem and clearly shows the influence of Stravinsky. “Brick-a-Black” is his final orchestral work, a piece brimming with rhythm and intense resonance.
