Adelaide refuses, putting her in a difficult position, but it is the German king Lothario who saves her. After the battle, the victorious Lothario forgives everyone and the story comes to a happy ending. The success of Handel's Italian-language operas began to fade by the end of the 1720s. Written against this backdrop, \"Lotario\" was the first of a new series of operas intended to rekindle interest in the heroic tale. Although rarely performed among Handel's operas, the music that unfolds here is acclaimed for creating a compelling drama, highlighted by a full aria with a rich melody.
