Performances from this project, which used all existing sources plus every possible source, including piano rolls, to most accurately represent the composer's intentions, can already be heard in \"An American in Paris\" (8.559859), the Cuban Overture, and the second Rhapsody, The Cuban Overture, Second Rhapsody, and Rhapsody in Blue also reflect new research results. Rhapsody in Blue, in particular, has a complicated history: not only did Grofe replace Gershwin, who was not very good at orchestration, from the original two-piano version, to create the original jazz band version, and then to create various versions of the piece, but even Grofe's orchestral version has multiple versions, and the orchestral version of Rhapsody in Blue was written by Grofe himself. Even Grofe's orchestral version has multiple versions, making it difficult to determine the true nature of the work. The version here is based on Grofe's symphonic arrangement, but pianist Cole is also heard adding 44 bars from the original jazz band manuscript. Other pieces on the disc include John Tower's propulsive rhythmic burst of \"1920\/2016\" and Stucky's ethereal \"Dream Waltz.
