As his name suggests, his music blends Western structures with Middle Eastern resonances, and this makes for an unforgettable experience. In the opening of Tahwidah, which means \"lullaby\" in Arabic, a haunting clarinet tone intertwines with a voice filled with lamentation and resignation, and the beauty of the music is ghastly. Just listening to this pale, luminous little piece confirms the composer's extraordinary talent, doesn't it? The eloquent and rich music of the \"Sonata for Solo Violin\" written for the famous violinist Rachel Barton Pine, the \"Posh,\" a song cycle with a melody like Rachmaninoff, and the \"Mountains of Lebanon\" for woodwind quintet inspired by the Lebanese Civil War, all have great sorrow at the bottom of their heart. Each piece reflects the lives of people who are trying their best to live, even though they have great sorrow in their hearts.
