In contrast, the “Violin Sonata” is an austere piece with a somewhat classical air. Its solitary resonance, as if challenging the limits of the strings, is simply irresistible. The “Piano Trio,” titled after a line from a poem by Emily Dickinson, is—as the title suggests—a lyrical piece. That said, it’s typical of her style to casually weave quarter-tones into the beautiful sound. Please savor the slightly out-of-tune resonance of the string instruments.
