Why is that? And yet they possess such a perfect blend of grandeur and sentimentality. This recording is sure to fill your heart with emotion. The Second Concerto was composed in 1877. Written 11 years after the First, it features a surprisingly dramatic structure. It was premiered by the virtuoso Sarasate and is dedicated to him. The Third was originally written in 1891 as a single-movement work but was expanded into three movements on the advice of Joachim. Each motif played by the solo violin gains even greater expressiveness, and the orchestral sound responds to it fully. This little-known masterpiece is performed by the brilliant Fedotov. You can listen to his performance of No. 1 at 8.557689.
