It also offers a wealth of material for scholarly study.\n　\"Alamire\" was an assumed name: the man behind it, Petrus Imhoff, made his living as a music copyist and manuscript illuminator, moved in royal circles across Europe, and even worked as a spy for the English crown. Thanks to his labours we can savour this polyphony, primarily vocal, in full measure. The performers, Capilla Flamenca, are a group of male singers from the region itself, specialists devoted to recovering the performance practice of the period.
