It includes witty art songs such as the “Three German-Style Songs” set to poems by Heine, as well as a piano piece based on Burners’ own poem “Lepoisson d’or” (The Golden Fish), which he dedicated to Stravinsky, and “Three Little Funeral Marches,” which vividly capture Burners’ sharp perspective on life.
