Anticipating this demand, publishers apparently commissioned numerous arrangers to produce four-hand versions of many works.\nThis String Quartet No. 3 was arranged by Otto Drezel and slightly revised and approved by Schumann himself. The Piano Quintet was dedicated to his wife, Clara, who also performed the piano part at its premiere. Precisely because Clara knew the works so thoroughly, she had no trouble whatsoever carrying on the work after Schumann’s death and succeeded in recreating Schumann’s musical world.\nSchumann’s four-hand piano series is planned to consist of seven volumes, and this is the release of the first volume.
