The protagonist, Annina, prays for others despite her ill health; the poor who cling to her; her brother Michele, who denies her divinity; and his lover, Desiteria. This work, which masterfully depicts Italian immigrants and their religious beliefs, won the 1955 Pulitzer Prize (he had also won the prize the previous year for *The Consul*). The ballet score *The Unicorn, the Gorgon, and the Mantigore* likens the poet’s life to three allegorical animals. Commissioned by the E.S. Coolidge Foundation, it premiered in New York in 1957.\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Naxos Historical","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53595675197729,"sku":"4945604113601","price":3590.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4945604113601.jpg?v=1790482242","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4945604113601","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
