Inspired by Smetana’s “My Homeland,” Mucha dedicated the latter half of his life—beginning at age 50—to creating this masterpiece, which symbolically depicts the history of the Slavic peoples.\nThis release features Smetana’s “My Homeland”—which includes “The Moldau,” a piece that resonates deeply with Japanese audiences—using a recording conducted by Paavo Berglund, whose work has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years, alongside imagery from “The Slav Epic.” The CD jacket and booklet feature full-color reproductions of all 20 paintings.\nThis release highlights this exhibition and Slavic art through Mucha’s paintings and Smetana’s music.
