This performance—which returns to the original tempo, particularly in the fourth movement (making it about one minute longer), and features improved sound quality—can be considered Mengelberg’s definitive recording.\nTogether with the booklet containing a detailed account of the background by Nobuhiko Kori, this is a set worthy of preservation for future generations.
