Beethoven (1770-1827)

Description:

Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Legendary Beethoven Cycle! Karajan's live performance at the Fumonkan, the complete symphonies and the concerto with Weissenberg are included in this boxed set! Newly remastered in the final, definitive sound quality! Including a new Karajan mini-photo book, this box contains all of Karajan's 1977 Beethoven Cycle recorded by TOKYO FM at the Fumonkan in Tokyo. The symphonies were newly remastered for the Blu-ray Audio disc (TFMCBD-0031) released in 2014, and further fine-tuned and brushed up based on the new masters. The piano concerto with Weissenberg, which has only been available separately, has also been newly remastered for this set. This is a complete collection that is sure to be a hit with classical music fans! 2017 marks the 40th anniversary of this concert and the 190th anniversary of Beethoven's death. We hope you will take this opportunity to enjoy this legendary performance in its entirety. This historic recording was made by Mr. Hiroo Tojo (now a music journalist), who was a famous producer of TOKYO FM at the time, and the late Mr. Shunsuke Wakabayashi, a renowned Japanese engineer whose skills were highly praised by Stokowski, to ensure a flawless recording. As a result, a very good stereo recording was made.Fate" and "Denen," which were performed by the regular members of the Berlin Philharmonic without extras, were broadcast by Asahi Broadcasting Corporation in monaural on TV and therefore not broadcast on FM, and the concerto with Weissenberg was also previously unreleased. The Ninth with the choir led by Nobuaki Tanaka, which Karajan highly praised, is also a must-hear, with its tremendous voltage that is uniquely Japanese. A booklet-sized miniature photo book of Karajan is included as a bonus, featuring previously unpublished photos that are different from those included in the 2011 release of the complete symphonies on 5 CD (TFMC-0031).
