Once again, two-track, 38 cm open-reel tapes were brought into the recording studio, and the entire mastering process was done with professional equipment. The result is so overwhelmingly wonderful that even the mastering engineer was astonished. The sound is as diverse as a kaleidoscope of tones, capturing everything from soft and subtle expressions to a huge, reverential sense of scale. It is perhaps the closest thing to Furtwängler's raw sound. So, what should I pair with this flank? I had a number of candidates, and I had a hard time deciding. However, there is nothing else that can match the sound quality of this Franck. Therefore, we decided that the best way to preserve the impression of this outstanding performance was to record the Franck alone.
