Description:
Expressing diverse worlds that expand into the universe in a condensed time! Naoko Yoshino's fourth album on her own label "grazioso" focuses on works from the second half of the 20th century onward. The core of the album features works by Heinz Holliger, Toshio Hosokawa, Toru Takemitsu, John Cage, and Takashi Yoshimatsu. Sequenzia," written by Holliger for his wife Ursula, an accomplished harpist, is a work with rich and varied expression while eliminating all unnecessary sounds. Toshio Hosokawa's "Regression II" is a solo harp version of the harp concerto "Regression" that we premiered in 2001. It expresses the infinitely expanding worlds of the universe and the sea in a leisurely flow of condensed time. In Toru Takemitsu's "Stanza II," the harp performs with a pre-recorded tape. In the seemingly mechanically processed sound, Takemitsu's unique world unfolds. Cage's "In a Landscape," a work written when Cage was in his 30s, is very impressive for its unique worldview amidst its easy-going musical ideas, and Takashi Yoshimatsu's "Laila Koskei," which we premiered in 2006, is a suite of five small pieces that express a tender look at the universe, stars, and the humans involved in it, as if it were a story. It is like a story that expresses a tender look at the universe, the stars, and the human beings involved. The core of the piece is interspersed with Satie's "Three Gnossiennes," which serves as a link between these works. The album closes with "Hiraeth" by Williams, a Welsh composer closely associated with the harp. I composed this album as if it were one big story. I hope you will listen to it in various ways. (Harp Recital 2: Sonatas, Suites and Variations" (GNY 702) and "Harp Recital 3: Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Brahms and others" (GNY 703) are also on sale. Both discs have been specially selected by Record Geijutsu. This disc uses UHQCD (Ultimate Hi Quality CD), a new technology that reproduces the sound quality of the original recording to the utmost limit. King International Inc.
