Although its staging was in doubt due to the global pandemic, the festival went ahead with a shortened schedule and revised program.\nThis performance featured Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4, conducted by Thielemann and performed by the Vienna Philharmonic, followed by Wagner’s “Wesendonck Lieder,” with the “Queen of Mezzo-Soprano,” Elīna Garanča, as soloist.\n\nWagner’s “Wesendonck Lieder” were composed in 1857 using five poems presented to him by Mathilde Wesendonck, the wife of the industrialist Wesendonck, who was one of his patrons.\nComposed in parallel with *Tristan und Isolde*, the opera of ultimate love, Wagner left behind these two masterpieces while his relationship with his mistress, Mathilde, was still ongoing. In the third song, “In the Greenhouse,” in which she entrusts her unfulfilled wishes to the plants in the greenhouse, Galáncha masterfully conveys a sense of frustration and a heart that cannot find peace. Then there is the fifth song, “Dream,” which was later adapted for the “Love Duet” in Act II of *Tristan und Isolde*. With her beautiful voice, Garanca quietly sings of the sorrow of secret love, entrusting her love to a dream.\n\nThielemann, who frequently speaks of his deep admiration for Bruckner, is praised as “the foremost representative of Germany’s orthodox tradition.” Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4 has been performed by Thielemann with the Munich Philharmonic (2008) and the Dresden Staatskapelle (2015), among others, and can certainly be considered one of his signature works. Listeners can fully savor Bruckner’s world, meticulously woven note by note, as Thielemann’s confident interpretation unfolds through the Vienna Philharmonic’s rich sound and superb ensemble playing.\nKing International\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"C Major","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53374661755169,"sku":"4909346026117","price":5958.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4909346026117.jpg?v=1787632245","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4909346026117","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
