This is the follow-up to his 2024 release, the *Faust Symphony* (BISSA2510), which was met with great acclaim. Liszt had been an avid reader of *The Divine Comedy* since his youth and composed the piano piece “While Reading Dante” in 1837. He began sketching this symphony around 1847 and completed it with advice from Wagner, among others. The piece opens with the highly dramatic “Inferno,” moves through “Purgatorio,” and concludes—as if purified—at the end of the “Magnificat” accompanied by a female chorus. This album also includes the magnificent and grand coda (just over one minute in length) that appeared as an appendix in the original publication. The presence or absence of this coda will likely alter the final impression significantly. The album concludes with “Black Gondola,” John Adams’ orchestral arrangement of Liszt’s late work “Gondola of Sorrow No. 2.”\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"BIS","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53419247829281,"sku":"4589538834111","price":3790.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538834111.jpg?v=1788227583","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4589538834111","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
