In 1810, he fled conscription into Napoleon’s army and moved to Denmark, where he lived out the rest of his life. His works carry on the tradition of German music, and in Denmark he enjoyed immense popularity as “Beethoven’s greatest interpreter and successor.” In Japan, he is also well-known as the composer of the *Sonatina Album*, a guidebook for piano students. An accomplished pianist himself, Kuhlau drew inspiration from the early Romantic movement and left behind numerous works that make full use of the piano’s rich, natural resonance. Among these, he had a particular fondness for four-hand piano pieces, in which two people play a single piano; he composed numerous works that, in addition to their social and educational appeal, are filled with dramatic developments created by the two performers.\nThis complete collection follows Böndorf’s collection of solo works and encompasses all of Kuhlau’s four-hand pieces, from his early sonatas to the “Allegro Pasetique” from his later years. It includes numerous world-first recordings and helps expand the repertoire for four-hand piano.\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Dacapo","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53419249140001,"sku":"4589538834104","price":5990.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538834104.jpg?v=1788227584","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4589538834104","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
