Born into a family of Ukrainian clergy, Bolotnyansky studied under Garuppi at the Imperial Chapel in St. Petersburg. When Garuppi returned to Italy, Bolotnyansky followed him there, where he studied opera composition and achieved some success. *Creonte* was composed in 1776 during the early years of his time in Italy. After being lost for a long time, the score was discovered in a Portuguese library, revived in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 2024 during the war, and recorded the following two years. The libretto is said to feature a democratic ending—uncompatible with absolutist monarchy—which is unusual for a work from the 1770s, a period when court culture flourished. According to the label’s notes, the production staff, who worked on the project under difficult circumstances, found an indomitable spirit in this work.\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Toccata Classics","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53082771980577,"sku":"4589538833442","price":3130.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538833442.jpg?v=1785152959","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4589538833442","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
