After serving as chapel music director of the Dietrichstein family, a prestigious Habsburg noble family, and as music director of Dresden, he was appointed court composer and music director of the Bishop's Lordship of Bamberg in 1752, a position he held until his death. He composed numerous operas, chamber music, concertos, and orchestral works, as well as oratorios, masses, and other church music, and his scores are preserved in archives in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and the U.S. However, his works are rarely mentioned today, making him a forgotten composer. This recording is the result of such a situation. This recording is a valuable collection of Umstadt's harpsichord concertos and flute concertos.\n\nHis harpsichord concertos are based on the Gallant style, with its flamboyant melodies and technicalities in keeping with the taste of the mid-18th century, but they sometimes show a tendency toward a multi-sensorial style, which is more in keeping with his contemporaries Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl Philipp Emanuel than with the counterpoint works of Johann Sebastian Bach. The style is closer to that of Bach's sons, such as Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl Philipp Emanuel, than to the counterpoint works of Johann Sebastian Bach. The flute concerto is also characterized by sweet melodies that take advantage of the flauto-traverso characteristics, but it also has the characteristics of the multisensorial style, with particularly intense note leaps, rhythms, and technical passages. The three harpsichord concertos are world premiere recordings, and the flute concerto is a world premiere recording on an ancient instrument, but the works are so appealing that it is a wonder that they have not been featured more often.\n\nFounded in 2009 by Sieglinde Glesinger and Maya Myatovic, Klingekunst is an antique music ensemble dedicated to exploring the now forgotten music of the 17th and 18th centuries, with a particular focus on rediscovering the Viennese music of Maria Theresa's time.Glesinger is a flutist who studied with Bartolt Kuiken and others, and has held principal positions in such renowned old music orchestras as the Vienna Konzentus Musiks and the Orfeo Baroque Orchestra. Maya Mijatovic, a harpsichordist from Herzegovina who studied with Wolfgang Glucksum, is active not only in classical music but also in avant-garde music, and has collaborated with contemporary composers on numerous new premieres. The cadenza of the harpsichord concerto is her own work.\n\n\n\nCover Painting: Philippe Hackert (1737-1807): Ideal Landscape with Mercurius and Paris (part)\n\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"CPO","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":52171571593505,"sku":"4589538828400","price":3141.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538828400.jpg?v=1766641976","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4589538828400","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
