Also included is the orchestral version of \"The Baroness's Dance\" from the ballet \"Carmina Cregiana\" (1985).\n\n\n\nSynopsis.\n\nThe town of Bethulia is under siege by the Assyrian general Holofernes and is suffering from hunger and despair. The elders discuss surrender, but Judith rebukes them, saying, \"Trust in the power of God,\" and heads for the enemy camp accompanied by her maid, Abra. She is a skilled wordsmith in the presence of Holofernes, who is captivated by her beauty.After a feast celebrating his victory, Judith, seeking divine power, strikes Holofernes with her sword as he sleeps, and brings back his head. The next morning, Judith returns to Bethulia and presents the head of the enemy general to the people. The Assyrian army retreats in a rout, and the city is liberated.
