The Royal Ballet's 2013 production of "Don Quixote," directed by Carlos Acosta, has become one of the company's signature productions, attracting attention as an energetic production that adds a playful touch to the classical ballet tradition. In addition to the powerful dance incorporating superb technique, the dancers bring out their naturalistic performances, inviting the audience into a world overflowing with joy and a sense of life. In this production, two of the most popular principals, Mayara Magri, with her innocent dancing charm, and Matthew Ball, with his versatile expressiveness, will play the leading roles, along with Don Quixote, played by the famous actor Gary Avis, and Calvin Richardson, promoted to principal in the 2024/25 season, who will play the bullfighter Espada. The supporting cast, including the bullfighter Espada, played by Calvin Richardson, who was promoted to principal in the 2024/25 season, adds to the show with their fine performances and dynamic dancing. The orchestra is conducted by Valery Ovshnikov, a ballet music specialist from Russia who has performed on ballet stages around the world.
