The program includes Debussy's "Pastorale" and "The Sea," as well as Russian works, all of which were previously released on BBC Legends and are now available for the first time on CD, except for the Rachmaninoff. Once again, the recordings have been carefully remastered by Paul Bailey of Re: Sound, and the sound is so pleasing that the gap of more than 20 years between recordings is almost unnoticeable. The Debussy with the Philharmonia Orchestra was recorded live two years after the session recording. Although this is almost a year before his death, the richness of Svetlanov's expression can be fully appreciated here as well. (Naxos Japan)
