Description:

The CDs are composed of first-ever recordings of about two thirds of the recordings. About two thirds of the recordings are first time recordings of the Queen Elisabeth International Competition. He is now a world-class soloist and has released CDs on major labels. CD2 features Lorenzo Gatto, who won the second prize in 2009. A leading musician in his native Belgium, he is active internationally, and his release of Beethoven's complete violin sonatas on the ALPHA label was highly acclaimed. The first release of this CD offers a taste of his virtuosity, while CD3 features Vineta Saleika (now known as Saleika-Folkner), a 2009 finalist (Laureate). After serving as concertmaster of the Flanders Symphony Orchestra and first violin of the Artemis String Quartet, she was appointed concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic in 2023 (the first woman to do so) and participated in the orchestra's Japan tour that same year. Here we hear two concertos of different styles and sizes, and the Baranov on CD4 was the first prize winner in 2012. On CD4, Baranov performs two Tchaikovsky masterpieces, his forte, as well as a Mozart concerto for the first time. Naxos Japan
