Reinberger held Bach in high esteem throughout his life and drew inspiration from his works. He attempted to adapt the Goldberg Variations—originally written for a double-manual harpsichord—to make them easier to perform on the two pianos that were popular at the time and to clarify the intricate polyphonic textures; however, However, simply dividing the parts between two pianos would have left skilled performers wanting more, so he added notes and melodic lines in some sections that were not present in the original composition. Furthermore, while the opening aria is typically reprised at the end of the piece, a distinctive feature of Rheinberger’s arrangement is that it concludes with the quadrivet from Variation No. 30.\nThere is also a version for two pianos arranged by Max Reger in 1915 based on this Lineberger edition, and while there are multiple recordings of that version, recordings of the Lineberger edition are extremely rare. The performers, Elena Valentini and Matteo Riva, formed their duo in 2017; after first performing Lager’s arrangement, they chose to record this Lineberger version.\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Dynamic","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53374640324897,"sku":"4589538806729","price":2421.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538806729.jpg?v=1787632143","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4589538806729","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
