This is a truly stellar cast. For the ensemble—whose surviving scores contain no instrument specifications—the lineup features two violins (Amandine Solano and Stéphanie de Faie) and two cornets (one of whom is the world-renowned Doron Sharwin), two recorders, and a double bass. The continuo features Margaux Blanchard along with two violas da gamba, three plucked-string players including Keith Garth, along with a harpsichord and an organ, creating a powerful ensemble. Under Aralcon’s baton, they bring the story to life with the passionate, characteristic style of the Capella Mediterranea. Director Hoffman is an American director renowned for his avant-garde yet compelling productions, which blend a wide range of operas—from Baroque to contemporary—with modern society.
