The violinist Shushanne Shiranoshian has made a splash with her duo album with the prodigy Immerseur and her recording of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto on ancient instruments. Shushanu Shiranosyan. Following the Tartini concerto collection, this new recording with Andrea Marcon and the Venice Baroque Orchestra is an enriching project that couples the concerto \"Mughal Emperor,\" for which Vivaldi, the \"Red-Haired Priest,\" even wrote his own vivid cadenza, with concertos by three equally talented composers of the same period! All of them are quite long and powerful works for the Baroque period, including Veracini's concerto with wind instruments, a piece from Locatelli's \"Violin Technique\" with a cadenza-like unaccompanied capriccio, and Tartini's D61 with its lustrous melody and harmony that will leave you spellbound. The selection of music is exquisite, with clear differences in the personalities of the composers. The Syranoian's ever more brilliant bowing shows off the singing and virtuosity characteristic of 18th century Italy, and the ensemble led by Marcon responds with a drama rich with Mediterranean passion and ups and downs. The commentary by Olivier Fré, a noted scholar of baroque dance and Vivaldi (Japanese translation is included in the domestic edition), is also very readable and contains accurate and noteworthy information. This is a superb Italian Baroque album that will take you back to the vivid 18th century from many angles, and is a must have for the ALPHA label.
