While the virtuosity of numerous talented musicians—such as Nadelman, the son of an instrument maker, and the virtuoso Bouxa—captivated audiences, the harp also gained immense popularity as an accompaniment instrument for delicate love songs.\nFocusing on the works of Sophie Gayou—a precocious female composer who began publishing her compositions in her teens during the Revolutionary period—this program features the Jadan brothers, who excelled in this genre, Martini, known for “The Joy of Love,” as well as harpists and Mozart—who gained international fame shortly after his death—all of whom excelled in this genre.
