After Lully's death, Rameau brought new life to the five-act French opera (lyric tragedy), which was gradually becoming outdated. Although the first performance of \"Zoroastre\" in 1749 was a failure, the revised version in 1756 was well received by the French public and received much acclaim. The premiere version of the opera was realized with the full cooperation of the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, and is now presented here. The revised version, of which there are several existing recordings including video, loses the original philosophical and progressive ideas of Rameau and scriptwriter Cayusac, which were lost due to the priority given to the clarity of the musical structure.The orchestra is composed of a large ensemble, including La Grande Ecurie, the famous orchestra that succeeded the late Margoire as music director, and is led by the traverso player Kosenko.
