His fourth recording for this label features Chopin’s mazurkas—works that Yablonski, whose father was Polish, describes as his “most beloved” and which he has been performing since the early days of his career. This is the long-awaited first volume of his complete mazurka recording project.\nChopin composed these mazurkas—based on folk dances from his native Poland—from the age of 20 through to the very end of his life. Although he organized them into coherent groups of several pieces by opus number and included clear instructions in the scores, it is said that when his students performed them, he told them to “trust their own intuition.” Consequently, their performance requires precise tempo rubato, dynamics, and pedaling. Yablonski expresses his deep empathy for Chopin through his exceptional technique, cultivated over many years of performance experience. He contributed his own commentary to the booklet (co-authored, in English), concluding it by quoting the following words from Szymanowski:\n“Chopin is an immortal figure who demonstrated the potential of Polish music.
