While paying respect to the various attempts at completion made in the past, he interprets the work as complete in three movements, stating, “The horn note at the conclusion of the third movement, which seems to go on forever, is like the composer’s final breath and gives the impression that there is nothing more to be said.” Alluding to the dedication “To my beloved God” that Bruckner himself wrote in the full score of this work, he expresses his deep attachment by stating that this recording is “dedicated to my beloved Bruckner.” As for the performance, in addition to a well-defined tempo that interweaves slow and fast sections, the contrast between the winds and strings is vividly brought out, with every section singing beautifully and expressively. Consequently, the placement of the violins on both wings is highly effective, resulting in a performance that is dynamic yet imbued with majestic beauty—a truly rewarding listening experience.
