His style stands in stark contrast to the bold and imaginative North German school, epitomized by Buxtehude. Both Pachelbel and Buxtehude enjoyed great popularity in their day, were held up as models by fellow musicians, and left a lasting influence on future generations.\nThis album is the second volume in a series of Pachelbel’s organ works performed by Matthew Owens, who has served as Music Director of Belfast Cathedral since September 2019. For this recording, he used an organ built in 2015 by the French organ builder Bernard Aubertin.
