Using the instrument, which was finally completed ten years after he placed the order, he has begun recording the 11 sonatas that Schubert completed. This is the first installment of that series.\nThe album opens with No. 18, often considered the gateway to Schubert’s late sonatas. This leisurely, unhurried performance, lasting just over 38 minutes, evokes the expansive fantasy and meditation found in No. 21.
