This album contains a religious work that was discovered to be the work of Marenzio after a detailed study of two unpublished manuscripts in the Capitlare archives in Vercelli, whose authorship had previously been unknown. The world premiere recordings of these works, including some that had previously been considered forgeries, were made after careful examination of the poorly preserved manuscripts. These works also trace Marenzio's activities in Rome and Poland, especially the two \"Sing joyfully to God,\" which show the result of Marenzio's revision process to perform his own works in various situations. The Capella Musicale of the Vercelli Cathedral features two sopranos, two altos, two tenors, two basses, an organ (tracks 2-7 \u0026amp; 9), and violone (tracks 2-7). The small number of singers clearly delineates the lines of polyphony, reviving the church music written by the masters of madrigale.
