After graduating from the conservatory in 1930, he began his career as a soloist, and in 1935 he founded the Hungarian Quartet, with which he remained until 1940, and also premiered Bartók's \"String Quartet No. 5\". Since then, he has been active as a violinist and conductor, and became a French citizen in 1953. He also had an outstanding record as an educator, teaching at the Mozarteum Salzburg Conservatory from 1971 to 1997, where he trained many young musicians. This box contains mainly his famous performances with the Camerata Salzburg (Mozarteum Camerata Academica), which he conducted since 1979.Weg presents a wide variety of works from the Viennese classics and Romanticism, including Haydn, Schubert, and Brahms, to the 20th century works of Schoenberg, Berg, Bartók, and Stravinsky, in a natural and engaging manner, while utilizing the mobility of a small orchestra with modern instruments. Please enjoy a different repertoire from that already included in the 13-CD box set [ORFEO Recordings 1983-1996] (J999713) released on the ORFEO label. The two Beethoven works were also performed at a chamber music seminar held in Cornwall, England. The players of the International Musicians' Seminar, where Weg had been teaching since 1972, played them beautifully.
