In fact, a concert dedicated to Louis XIV was held there in 1686, and this album, recorded in Versailles by a group of French antiquarian instrumentalists, aims to recreate that musical celebration in Rome. The program includes works by Corelli, who was famous throughout Europe and had a great influence on French composers, as well as a serenata by Merani, a composer who served the church of San Luigi dei Francesi.
