Marie, who works at the regimental canteen, is in love with Tonio, a young man who once saved her life. Driven by his desire to be with Marie, Tonio enlists in the army. However, it is revealed that Marie—who had long been believed to be an orphan—is in fact the daughter of nobility who was separated from her parents at a young age. She is sent to Paris to receive a proper upbringing, and the two are forced to part ways for the time being. While adjusting to life in unfamiliar Paris, Marie is approached with a marriage proposal from the nephew of a duchess, but she is not enthusiastic about it. It was then that Tonio—who had been promoted to captain and was visiting Paris—appeared before her…\n\n*La Fille du Régiment* premiered in 1840. It is said that Donizetti composed this work in a short period of time at the request of the Opéra-Comique in Paris. At the time, opéra-comique by Italian composers was quite rare, but the premiere at that theater was a resounding success, and it became a popular production that was revived many times.\nConducted by rising star Michele Spotti, this production is characterized by lively, military-style melodies and an elegant sound. The effective use of the Cuban percussion instrument, the conga, on stage is also worth noting. Sarah Branch, in the role of Marie, sings the high notes with ease using her radiant voice, portraying a charming female character. John Osborne, as Tonio, hits the high C time and again with his youthful voice, while Paolo Bordogna, as Surpis, brings stability to the ensemble with his solid singing. The comical singing of Adriana Vignani Resca, as the mother, is also a highlight.\nCuban film director Luis Ernesto Dóñas’s staging relocates the action to modern-day Cuba and the United States, bringing the story to life with colorful sets and costumes.\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Dynamic","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53595663335713,"sku":"4589538780357","price":4400.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538780357.jpg?v=1790482180","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4589538780357","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
