Bach’s “Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin.”\nThe album opens with a sonata composed in 1927 by Šulhof—a composer of “decadent music” who was once largely forgotten—which incorporates elements of Czech folk songs and jazz. This is followed by a melodic Hindemith sonata, written in 1924 and strongly influenced by Reger. The third piece is a sonata by Jarnach, also inspired by Reger; this is a technically demanding work characterized by its meticulous craftsmanship. The album concludes with a sonata by the little-known composer Ertman. Born into a Baltic German family in Latvia, he moved to Berlin in 1914. Having studied composition under Heinz Thiesen, he composed this work in the classical sonata form in 1920–21. Although it is the oldest of the four works on this recording, its early modernist style—which opens with a mysterious sequence of six notes—reflects a unique artistic voice.\nSkride delivers a superb performance, full of tension, while bringing out the distinctive characteristics of each piece.\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Orfeo","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53374662541601,"sku":"4589538778958","price":2871.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538778958.jpg?v=1787632247","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4589538778958","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
