He received his early musical education from his mother, and made his debut as a concert pianist at the age of 17, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 with the local orchestra. The following year he moved to Paris to study at the Conservatoire. On November 5, 1901, he had the honor of performing the symphony at the first concert of the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, which was founded that year. The following month, he appeared in recital, and in January 1902, he performed Saint-Saens' Piano Concerto No. 4 as soloist. In an interview in 1901, he said that his greatest musical influences were the Polish violinist and composer Władysław Gurski and the pianist and composer Ignatz Jan Paderewski. After his death, however, he was rapidly forgotten, and his works, which strongly reflect the style of the late Romantic period, have not been performed very often. In recent years, however, he has been attracting attention as \"one of the most important composers in the history of Polish music, linking Chopin and Szymanowski,\" and his performance opportunities are gradually increasing. This album includes his first work \"Symphony in D minor\" and his early work \"Suite in E-flat major\". The leading Polish conductor Antoni Wit performs them sympathetically.
