This album is a collection of his “chamber music for guitar.”\nLike Villa-Lobos and Manuel Ponce, Martin was also captivated by the renowned guitarist Andrés Segovia (1893–1987). After spending the years 1918 through 1926 in Zurich, Rome, and Paris before returning to Geneva, Martin appears to have been deeply impressed by Segovia’s performances in the 1930s. “Four Pieces” were composed during this period, but it is unclear whether Segovia directly commissioned the work from Martin, and almost nothing is known about their relationship. That said, this is Martin’s only work for solo guitar. His other works include “Three Minnelieds,” based on texts by medieval poets, “Poem of Death,” a late work that makes full use of the electric guitar, and the lullaby “Quant’ontassezfaitdo-do,” which was performed at a private concert held at Martin’s home (attended by Dinu Lipatti and his wife), among others.\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Musiques Suisses","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53374657069345,"sku":"4589538774998","price":2421.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538774998.jpg?v=1787632220","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4589538774998","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
