Titled “Memorial” in memory of the many refugees who lost their lives while crossing the Mediterranean Sea to escape the Syrian conflict, this work was originally conceived as a concerto for orchestra and has been crafted into a magnificent piece in which intense emotional expression bursts forth from within a contemporary framework. “Lost Nights” is a cycle of art songs based on texts by the Austrian poet Ingeborg Bachmann.
