The album features traditional Icelandic songs, love songs, lullabies, awe-inspiring ode to nature, Italian songs, and Scandinavian dirges, which are broadcast on the Icelandic radio station \"Ra's 1\" just before the noon news as \"Last Song\". Following this lead, the songs are chosen to represent a wide range of moods. The centerpiece of the album is the \"Icelandic Suite\" by Jörn Wiesal. This was written to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the settlement of Iceland in 1974 and contains many traditional Icelandic elements. She hit it off with Wiesal as soon as they met and has been a major influence ever since. Sveinsson, the composer of \"Three Marian Prayers,\" is such a friend that he often duoed with her. And \"Last Song Before the News,\" the music on which it was all based, mourns the death of her violinist friend, Johan Johansson. The omen of the inevitable fate of death is expressed in the form of sound.
